Navigating relationships for our parents, services and schools – how do we ensure success?
June 6, 2016Social Skills – they’ve told us what works!
June 20, 2016Are you struggling to find purpose in your life?
Do you ever wonder why you feel lost and have no direction?
Are you reacting to the world around you instead of feeling self-motivated?
Finding your WHY is the first important step – this means working out what you want to do or achieve in life and working towards it. When you know what you want, it makes it all so clear and provides you with direction and purpose!
When we are unsure of where we want to be in the future, it can create a lot of uncertainty and often we fall into the trap of surrendering our ambitions and eventually, lose faith in ourselves as a worthy person and consequently, have less confidence in our capabilities.
Working out your WHY allows you to work back from where you see yourself in the future and start making the changes in the present moment. There are certain things to consider to help make those positive life changes. These are:
* Motivator/Reasons – working out what you’re good at or what you find enjoyment in and developing that further. When you love what you do, you’re more likely to stick to it making it all worth the effort.
* Attitude – thinking in a positive way so that you begin to develop the motivation to want to try harder. Avoid people or activities that make you feel inadequate or pressured to be something that you don’t want to be.
* Behaviour – looking at the reasons why you might behave in a certain way. Are you confident in your own abilities to be who you want to be or do you need someone else’s approval? For example, are you looking for attention from others to feel accepted where you may display inappropriate behaviours to try to fit in with the crowd?
* Support people – surrounding yourself with people who inspire or encourage you to follow your dreams and aspirations. These people should also guide you and support you to be the best person that you can be whilst assisting you to become independent and make your own personal choices.
When you find your WHY, then the rest will take care of itself – if you are passionate about achieving your life goals, you will become more self-motivated to make it happen!
